🌱THE BAR
This is a natural soap recipe that blends together two special ingredients, rosemary and Cambrian blue clay. Rosemary, in two forms, adds scent, decoration, and anti-bacterial properties. Cambrian blue clay is a cosmetic ingredient that has oil-drawing properties that benefit those with oily skin. Together, the herb and the clay create a beautiful rosemary and sage soap recipe, the bars of which you can use for hands, body, and face. This soap is that it’s very gentle, cleanses well and has a fluffy lather. Though I’ve created the recipe specifically for oily skin, it’s suitable for everyday body use with those with normal skin.

Cambrian blue clay is a natural element mined from areas in northwest Russia and it naturally colors soap shades of green to blue (I'll switch to French green clay once I'm out of the Cambrian blue clay). In blue clay’s case, the color comes from it having a high content of chemically reduced iron. This special mineral has been linked to its ability to naturally eliminate bacteria, including those that cause breakouts. Therefore, blue clay is a win-win in that it cleanses oily skin, it reduces the microbes that cause pimples, and creates a lovely color.

Like blue clay, rosemary oil kills bacteria, especially Propionibacterium acnes, the type that causes pimples. That makes rosemary ideal for gently treating problematic skin. Clary sage essential oil contains an ester called linalyl acetate, essentially, this powerful compound works to reduce skin inflammation, heal the epidermis and soothe skin.

The dried rosemary and sage are homegrown from my gardens and both offer a very light exfoliation.

🌱THE SCENT
Most people think that essential oils are scented herbal perfumes but they’re actually concentrated plant essences with therapeutic properties.
Clary sage essential oil has an earthy, fruity and floral aroma that is both nutty and herbaceous. Rosemary essential oil has a strong, clear, penetrating, camphoraceous and herbaceous aroma. The soap has a very light and refreshing herbal scent.

🌱TIPS FOR EXTENDING THE LIFE OF YOUR SOAP
Handmade bars of soap will last a long time if kept dry between uses and out of direct streams of water. Using a draining soap dish is a good practice.

🌱ALLERGIES & SENSITIVITIES
I carefully craft my soaps using high quality ingredients, organic when possible, and using only natural and safe ingredients, however some recipes contain ingredients that are allergens for some individuals like nuts and coconut, maybe some type of essential oil, etc. Please read the ingredients list well.

If you are uncertain about a sensitivity, I recommend doing a patch test first to ensure that there is no reaction. If irritation occurs, please discontinue using the product.

My products do not claim to cure or prevent any disease or medical problem and do not intend to substitute for medical advice. Please consult your health care provider if you have any questions regarding a health condition.

🌱 ABOUT ME
I make all my soaps and skincare products from scratch, by hand and in small batches, in New Albany, IN. All my soaps are vegan. Each bar of soap cures for 4 to 6 weeks. This ensures that all the water has evaporated, leading to a harder bar of soap that will last longer, also provides time for the final saponification to take place and develop the crystalline structure of the soap.

🌱 RETURN POLICY
